Yom HaZikaron & Yom HaAtzmaut

Israel’s Day of Remembrance & Israel Independence Day

We mourn. We cry.

We celebrate. We dance.

Following the custom of our brothers and sisters in Israel, we begin by commemorating our brave soldiers who fell defending our ancestral homeland. We will light memorial candles, recite their names, and reflect on their sacrifice.

We then transition into celebrating Yom HaAtzmaut — Israel Independence Day — the very independence those soldiers made possible. The sound of the shofar will mark the transition from mourning to celebration. Our celebration will include:

  • Two speakers, one Israeli, one American, each with an unusual story. The Israeli speaker is being called up for reserve duty, so his talk will be on video.
  • Live music
  • Israeli dancing
  • Israeli products
  • A kids’ activity table
  • And of course… what Beth Ami excels at… FOOD
