“Hope. Fear. Regret. Betrayal. Despair. The unknown. These are the emotional forces and threads that weave through the story of Jacob Wrestling the Angel and through the three movement composition. It is an anxiety driven story that parallels the unknown of our times, the wrestling so many are engaged in as we search for meaning, sense, order. The brutal side of ourselves, driven by concern for our own well-being, wrestling with the side of ourselves aspiring towards generosity and hope. We seek a transformation like that of Jacob’s whether we realize it or not.”
These are the words Pulitzer nominated composer Fredrick Kaufman used to describe this incredible work.
Kol Emeth is proud to host a weekend of music and inspiration with the West Coast Premier of Fredrick Kaufman’s “Jacob Wrestling the Angel.”
Featuring renowned musicians Robert Davidovici on violin, German Marcano on cello, and Victoria “Tori” Hauk on flute.
