Our purpose: To create comforting handmade teddy bears to send to Israeli kids.

Our goal: to support and show our love for Israeli kids who were orphaned or displaced or otherwise traumatized by October 7. We’ll let them know that Americans care and are thinking of them by lovingly stitching soft, washable bears.

Teddy bears: a comfort to young and old.

We’ll gather in person to find support in the company of other Israel-lovers. In person we can get help with knitting glitches and learn techniques from each other. We also realize that some folks are homebound. You can absolutely participate. Email Esther at finishingtouches18@gmail.com

The first five bears will go to a Kfar Aza family my Israeli cousins are close to, who, with a full house of their own three kids, are raising orphaned twins whose parents were murdered on October 7th. Imagine five kids between the ages of 2-7.

Email Esther at finishingtouches18@gmail.com if you’d like to help with making bears or donating to cover shipping and yarn costs or if you have questions. All are welcome: Men and women, young and old, members and non-members, Jews and non-Jews. The Teddy Bear Project is under the auspices of the Beth Ami Israel Committee
