Flags at Half-mast

In noticing these two flagstaffs – one in Santa Rosa, the other in San Francisco – flying at half-mast today, I realized for the first time just how beautifully symbolic, and touching this is.

In their quiet way of saying “We care, and the entire country cares too!” I was deeply moved.
To suffer alone is truly to suffer; to know that there are so many others – of all faiths and denominations – that share the bitterness of this tragedy, is to live in the hope that all those families directly affected by this cruel, senseless act – the living as well as the dead – have touched our lives in a way that will long be remembered.
May the Almighty send comfort to the bereaved, healing to the wounded and may the souls of those slain, rest in the shelter of God’s Shechinah.

b’Shalom,
Mordecai
